July 18, 2014

Mexican Spice Mix 2

Mexican Spice Mix is perfect for flavoring beef, chicken, or potatoes.

Mix 1 1/2 teaspoons of Mexican Spice Mix with 1/2 cup of sour cream (allow to stand 5 minutes) to make a delicious Mexican dip that goes great with corn chips.

To make a tasty Guacamole dip, add 2 teaspoons of Mexican Spice Mix to 1/2 large ripe mashed avocado and 1/4 cup sour cream and mix until well combined.

Make taco sauce to top your favorite tacos (see instructions below mix recipe).

Ingredients for Mexican Spice Mix:

6 tablespoons dried minced garlic

6 tablespoons dried minced onions

6 tablespoons chili powder

2 tablespoons ground cumin

2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to your taste)

2 tablespoon sea salt (adjust to your taste)

Instructions for Mexican Spice Mix:

Place all ingredients in a pint-sized mason jar (large mouth is best), replace lid tightly, and shake until well combined. Store in cool dark place for up to two to three months.

Taco Sauce:

Combine 2 teaspoons of Mexican Spice Mix and 1/2 cup of tomato sauce in a small bowl. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon arrowroot powder. Allow to set at least three minutes or until the taco sauce thickens. Makes 1/2 cup of Taco Sauce.

Welcome to my homestead!

Hello, I'm Nelle Weaver!

My husband and I write about our simple life here on Mama's Homestead and teach classes on our homestead in central Ohio, where we raise goats, chickens, and rabbits, have an orchard, garden, keep bees, and much more. Read More…
