Italian Dressing Mix

July 18, 2014

Italian Dressing Mix is great sprinkled on potatoes or mixed into your favorite pasta for pasta salad.

Mix 1 1/2 teaspoons with 1/2 cup of sour cream (allow to stand for 5 minutes) for a tasty dip for vegetables or chips. This can also be used as a creamy sauce for baked potatoes, or steamed broccoli, cauliflower, and asparagus.

Mix it with oil and vinegar for a garlicky Italian Dressing (see instructions below mix recipe).

Ingredients for Italian Dressing Mix:

3 tablespoons garlic powder

2 tablespoons dried minced onion

2 teaspoons crumbled rosemary

2 tablespoons dried oregano

2 teaspoons paprika

1 tablespoon sea salt (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions for Italian Dressing Mix:

Place all ingredients in a pint-sized mason jar (large mouth is best), replace lid tightly, and shake until well combined. Store in cool dark place for up to two to three months.

Italian Dressing:

Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of Italian Dressing Mix to 6 tablespoons of olive oil and  2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a small jar, replace lid, and shake until well combined. Allow to stand for 10 to 15 minutes so herbs and spices can blend. This makes about 1/2 cup of dressing.

Welcome to my homestead!

Hello, I'm Nelle Weaver!
I grew up on a small farm in Ohio and experienced various aspects of homesteading. I learned many skills from my grandparents and parents and from being involved in 4-H and FFA.
My husband and I write about our simple life here on Mama's Homestead and teach classes on our homestead in central Ohio, where we raise goats, chickens, and rabbits, have an orchard, garden, keep bees, and much more. Read More…
